Mother Care: 7 Simple Energy Boosters for Tired Moms

Moms are generally tired round the clock and they are for a reason. Their routine is crammed with cleaning, laundry, washing dishes, grocery shopping, cooking, school pick-ups and drop offs. And if they are working mothers, then you can imagine the rest yourself. They don’t have time to watch their favorite TV shows for hours. By the time they serve dinner, they are quiet cranky and tired. Even if you are dead tired and want to sleep, you can’t. You need energy boosters throughout the day to keep you going. After all, how else are you going to look after multiple kids? To feel less irritable and more energized, try these simple energy boosters:

1. Rest

There are times you need to listen to your body rather than ignore what it is saying.so you have had a hectic day and your body is screaming for one thing- rest. You can rest in different ways. You can take a comforting bubble bath while your kids are watching cartoons. You can take a short 20 to 25 minutes nap while your kids are off to sleep or try sleeping early for few days. Your piled up dishes, dirty toilets and messy house can wait. Recharging yourself for all of it is more important. Don’t ignore when your body is trying to talk to you.

2. Let the fresh air in

Are the summers over? Are you someone who keeps all the windows of the home shut? Don’t. Open them and see the difference. Fresh air can do wonders. Let the air and some sunshine enter your house and feel the energy it brings in you. It will make you feel more alert and energized. If you have multiple kids, then you are probably on the move. When you are stuck in traffic, just open the window of your car and check out the magic it does to you.

3. Get Moving

Don’t winters make you sluggish and summers pump you up with energy? It has more to do with how active you remain every day. A morning run is a great idea to get you all wide awake and pump you up with the much-needed energy to get you through your entire days routine. You really need to make movement a part of your routine in one way or the other. Have you ever noticed that you will find yourself brimming with energy when you are busy in different errands and activities rather than when you watching TV show for hours? You need to strike a balance between things.

4. Fetch a glass of cold water

Usually people opt for hot beverages when they  feel tired and out of energy. Since we all know caffeine is not a good thing to have when you are pregnant and when you are nursing a child, it simply breaks the habit of having hot beverages. So what can you do till you can have hot beverages like tea and coffee? Go fetch a glass of cold water. You will be amazed to see the difference it brings. It will make your mind more alert and make your stomach feel fuller which means you will not crave for unhealthy snacks.

5. The supplement magic

Having a balanced diet should be a priority over having supplements. Maybe you try your best to take a balanced but still fall short of some vitamins or minerals. If you feel more tired than usual, it probably means that your body lacks certain nutrients. You can talk to your doctor about and ask him about taking supplements. He might prescribe one according to your need. Many women swear by the supplements they take. When you go to the doctor, make sure you get yourself tested for iron level and thyroid. Lack of both can result in feeling extremely tired and lazy.

6. 20 minutes work out

Okay okay, you cannot bear more movement because you are already too tired. Working out is probably the last thing in your head. Did you know a mere 20 minutes work out will pump up more energy in you than you have at this point? If you can’t fit gym in you daily routine, you can always go for at-home cardio workouts for moms who are too busy.

7. Reconsider your snacks

Do you feel like eating even when you are just bored and not really hungry? We all do but make sure you snack healthy. Don’t remain hooked to glycemic foods like ice cream, cakes and cookies. You may feel utter satisfaction but then you are not going to feel as good hours later. From now on opt for healthier snacks and stay away from empty calorie snacks. Unhealthy snacks will make you feel heavy and not-so-active while heathier snacks pump up your energy levels.
