Why are my periods irregular?

There are many different causes of irregular periods: the most common being.

1) PCOS & fibroids
This can lead to irregular periods. If you are suffering from other symptoms of PCOS, contact your GP. You can refer to our earlier post on PCOS, found on the ‘Health Tips’ highlight on Instagram or Facebook page to learn more about PCOS.

2) Hormonal imbalance
Periods are regulated by hormones, so a slight change in hormonal balance can impact period timings, cause heavier bleeding & even lead to missed periods.

Such imbalances are caused by physical or emotional stress & substantial weight gain/loss. If possible, identify & lower the stress factor. However, this is not always feasible; the best remedy in this case is relaxation and exercise.
